Some information
By improperly configuring your home PC you are putting it at risk every time you use the internet. At any given time your computer would be vulnerable to viruses, worms, adware, spybots, or spambots. These users are then causing a large volume of malicious traffic, which can be a big nuisance and infect other PC's. There is no reason why your machine should be one of these.

For those of you who don not like to read instructions we will keep it simple for you.

Install a gateway router
Install anti-adware software
Install and keep anti-virus software and keep it updated
Enable automatic updates when necessary

Yes I also want to add that you have to add something for trojans like trojan blocker also, as they are also trobling a lot these days and most anti-virus don't attack them.

If you have the right anti virus program that also blocks Trojans you will not have to get any additional software for it. But having an extra one might not be a bad idea.

And you should be aware that you shouldn't run two anti-virus products at the same time as they it will cause a conflict. Disable one to use the other as a minimum.

But you can use any number of trojans blocker as they work in different way as they don't have any thing like virus signature.

NOD32 and AVG both are good anti-virus and mcafee is really a hopeless anti-virus.
