Why is spam such a big problem?
It is curious to find there is no effective anti-spam system available to ensure cent percent spam proof. BT introduced some features with its email that resulted in email access problems reported by many of its customers. Last year, PlusNet also tried to launch anti-spam system with its email that led to accidental wiping out of emails from its customers' inbox.

it seems it will take some more time for the ISPs to pin down the spam relayers and to provide absoultely spam free email services.

Spam isn't a problem, what is the problem is finding out how to pay for decent spam protection.

I have had my email account for around 8 years now, published in a lot of places so it should be a spam magnet.

Nope I get 1 perhaps 2 a month, my other email account that I've hung on to is from old a free mail account, even though its very rarely used and has been rarely published anywhere it gets around 10-15 spams a day.

Why the difference? my old account is with a premium mail provider and part of that cost is premium spam protection, the other is with a free provider who use cheap (if any) spam protection.

The Plusnet thing last year was more sloppy maintenance than the anti spam appliance itself, and the BT issues were more lack of communication.

Basically though if you want less spam you need to pay for it, although saying that my Gmail account traps around 99% of spam sent to it so perhaps everyone should just use Gmail instead :-)

Best bet is to have a important email for business relations, and family contact do not supply this anyone you don't know. Then have an email to use on loads of different sites.
