This is another tip:

Use a separate id for using in public chat rooms like Yahoo or MSN. Never use your personal email id for chatting purpose. Also never fill up personal information like email id, or address in your profiles.

It is a proven truth that social networking sites and free IM services are the places where your email gets infected with this spam disease.

The war against spam is going on. Recent report says, 97 percent of emails that are received during last month are spam. The good news is less than one percent of these junk mails carried virus. Seems spammers are having a little social responsibility.

Again, the spammers could send some deadly viruses to hack information from your PC. Recently, a new boot virus is being spread on the internet to get the log in details of online bank accounts and it is reported that over 5000 PCs got infected by this virus.

More information

In my opinion, we are also responsible for the spread of spam. Our reckless internet habits and mindless activities often helps the spam to grow, multiply and spread. When we sign up to new, dubious sites, we mindlessly give our personal details like email addresses and even postal addresses. A report says that many youngsters even give the personal information of their friends to the P2P sites thus putting their privacy also in risk. It's time to think over this issue.

.

Many of us open and sometimes even respond to spam messages which I think also encourages spammers. Most of spam are circulated for advert purposes. If we open and reply to them, we are likely to get more spam. It is better to delete them as soon as we identify them.

If you need to email address to P2P or other such sites, don't give your main email id which you use for your most personal things.

Yes do not fall for the trick where it says if you reply to this email with DELETE you will be removed from the mailing list. These verifies to a spammer that they have a valid and checked email address on there hands. Therefore, they will send you more spam.
