In my opinion, we are also responsible for the spread of spam. Our reckless internet habits and mindless activities often helps the spam to grow, multiply and spread. When we sign up to new, dubious sites, we mindlessly give our personal details like email addresses and even postal addresses

Many of us open and sometimes even respond to spam messages which I think also encourages spammers. Most of spam are circulated for advert purposes. If we open and reply to them, we are likely to get more spam. It is better to delete them as soon as we identify them.
If you need to email address to P2P or other such sites, don't give your main email id which you use for your most personal things.
