AVG question
Today my anti viruss popped up warning me of a threat. I sent the suspect file to the Virus Vault, and then selected to HEAL the program.

Does this HEAL repair the file, or delete it? I'm a bit paranoid now and will do a full scan, but AVG's options are a bit confusing.

Heal is designed to attempt to repair the file, reccommended if its a system file thats infected, and if it finds the file to be 100% malicious, it will destroy it, or move it to the vault, depending on where it was to begin with.
If AVG says its sorted, it probably is.

Thanks for the help, do you think it will delete it if unable to heal it. It's isn't a system file, but an .exe so a keylogger or some other nasty I imagine.

Its always good to destroy the unwanted files detected by your antivirus and to try repair your system files, after repair you can also repair your windows with windows cd.

As Scorpio said, AVG gets rid of the file or sends it to the vault depending on where it comes from.If it's a system file then it tries to repair it.If it can't do so ,then it will show 'File not healed'.I encountered very few bugs that AVG couldn't take care of , but as it shows you the pathway ,you can manually delete it.I have been using it since last 3 years without any major problems.

I agree that scorpio actually gave you the answer to your question. You should not have any futher issues if you have used AVG and it shows that it was taken care of.

If you find avg confusing then use NOD32 as its equally powerful as AVG and has much simplified interface.
