| | | McAfee or Norton? Which one would you prefer? McAfee or Norton for your internet security?
I personally prefer McAfee as it does not slow my system down like Norton does.

| | | McAfee and Norton have equal antispyware protection capabilities. The difference between them is McAfee warns us before a spyware gets installed in our systems. Compared with McAfee, Norton is a little meek with a suspicious program and gets it downloaded and only later you are warned about it.
Both the virus busters cause considerable slow down of system speed, however, it is McAfee which performs its full system scans for a much longer time.
The happy news is you can get cheaper and faster antivirus programs than these two. For example, the Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 protects your PC from viruses, hackers and other intrusions from the internet.

| | | I've never heard of McAfee before. I have heard of Norton; and I really dislike it. It's slow, incompetant; contains virus's etc., seriously, it's horrible.
So I suppose I'll go with McAfee then.

| | | I'd rather cut my right arm off (I'm left handed so its not that bad) than use either.
For Anti-Virus I would use AVG, NOD32 or Avast
For Anti-Spyware I would use Spybot S&D or even Microsoft Defender
The great bonus in the above is they are free unlike Norton or McAfee who charge a fortune to renew every year, so much so its often cheaper to go out and buy a new copy.

| Agree with you there Jen. Remember, there are sad individuals out there who make virus that are designed solely for targetting McAfee and Norton plus theres the whole "spyware" issue with those commerical programs, I'd give them a miss. AVG for me.

| | | Norton would be my choice. Although its a little costly, I am more adept configuring it more than any other anti virus programs. As for AVG, you only get the level of protection you paid for and that's it. | |

| | | I'd have to disagree norton in my experience hasn't picked up a lot of viruses in the past , it also due to it's popularity it's the first thing virus writers disable when the virus hooks itself into the system! | |

| | | They both suck. Always use nod32 or panda as mcAfee does not prevent entry of certain virus even after being fully updated. | |
