Cable broadband: More prone to security threats?
Heard ADSL provides better security than cable broadband. The reason is cable broadband is a network, like LAN with lots of users sharing broadband over the cable.

Possible that cable broadband is more prone to security issues. If it is true do cable broadband providers provide cable modems withe adequate security features? Or should we buy additional security features to protect our system? I recently signed up for Virgin's M package.

No there is nothing like broadband is more prone to virus. Just use a good anti virus software like nod32 or panda. And all connections are equally prone to attacks and virus.

Cable connections are easily spliced into 2 connections. A lot of the dodgy NTL boxes here in the UK are connected to a neighbours cable.

Yes ADSL is more secure becuase connection has to be made from the splitter and if splitted it can be easily detected at your end.

Adsl are secure in the sense that if some one intercepts your cable in between it can be known easily but in cable if someone intercepts your network then its very difficult as one has to manually trace the cable.

No connection is more secure than other unless you have a leased line. As both can be intercepted easily and so your data can be hacked.
