A lesson for Virgin Media
I am a virgin customer in Manchester. On 1st Nov, there was total black out of Virgin services for nearly seven hours after 7.30 pm. Ofcourse, the power shut down caused it and power was restored after two hours. However, Virgin services resumed only after 2 am. The reason was attributed to the collapse of air conditioning systems of Virgin Servers due to the losing of power.

If that is the reason, why Virgin does not have some backup power in such situations? I came to know from their site, their engineers took five hours to fix the problem. My suggestion to the ISP is that they should foresee this kind of problems before they crop up and should take effective steps to prevent them in future.

Seems Virgin Media is not equipped to handle such things yet. This also shows their attitude towards their customers who must have suffered along with their provider during those hours.

I think cable services are susceptible to such catastrophies.
