It is so bad to hear that. I knew that there are people who use net for crimes but never thought it would be like this.

I think more cyber laws should be generated to deal these crimes. But the problem is that it is very difficult find such criminals. Many are coming up day by day.

Internet crime is at a terrible level and will only get worse unless the police work with ISP`s and router companys.

Trouble we have is there are so many people buying routers with limited or no IT knowledge that they are installing routers with none or very poor encyption which of course is a havern for these criminals as if they can steal someone elses broadband then its also very hard to track them down because it will only lead to the innocent non IT persons ISP.

It has been good as recently there has been 2 cases against individuals who hijacked someones internet whilst sitting outside their premises in cars who where both successfully prosecuted by the courts but these are rare cases and very easy to detect as someone parked up in a car late at night being lit up by bright laptop is a bit of a giveaway LOL

Hense its much harder to detect someone doing this kind of practice in a house as its down to the router owner to discover if someone is pinching their broadband and therefore its up to them to report such crimes but to be frank if someone has not got the technical know how to set up a router securly then how an earth would they be albe to detect an intruder on their network?

Perhaps if the goverment paid someone to go around checking networks and offering a free service with advice to people using unsecured routers then internet crime would drop as like mobile phones routers and any radio signals can be tracked down to a matter of feet.

Yeah internet crime is soaring up best to be very alert of this then you should be safe.Always add a WEP key to your router, get the best anti-virus possible and don't enter personal details on dodgy suspicious sites and you should be okay.
