Windows XP auto updates
I have turned off my Windows XP auto updates thinking it is eating lot of my bandwidth. In case of my antivirus, I let it run once in a day. Can anyone say whether I am right in doing so?

This was discussed here (No autoupdates.).

Realistically unless you are on a VERY small cap its best to let Windows and Anti Virus software download what they like.

Never turn off "On Demand" anti virus scanning, it may eat up CPU time but
shouldnt eat bandwidth and someday may just save your computer.

Yes i agree with everyone else you must leave your updates on.Sometimes you have some very important security updates that protect your computer from many things. Please don't disable this.
