monster.com was raided by trojam
The job site monster.com was raided and a huge list of people where taken .
"To the best of our knowledge, this is not a hack of Monster's security, rather, legitimate customer credentials are being used to log in to the database," said Patrick W. Manzo, vice president of compliance and fraud prevention at Monster.

That is not good news. I use monster as I suspect do a lot of others. Is there any way of finding out what we need to do to protect our identity?

Never put any details online? Thats about the only way you can protect against the kind of "hack" that was done on Monster.

Monster itself was still secure, the data leakage was due to someone having a key logger on their machine and the key logger captured the Monster Admin user id and password.

I would advise people not to keep your profile online cause of the leakage but you can look of people who want to hire online , what do you think about .

Monster and other job sites produce a very useful service with allowing you to put up searchable profiles for employers to look up. Sometimes it is better if the job finds you. So I say that it could be worth the risk

I got a reply from them the other day starting "Dear Valued Monster Customer,"

Apparantly I'm safe but it's always funny when they say "Dear Valued Customer" it's usually code for "Please, please, don't go."

There are ups and downs in most things and whenever you take advantage of anything online you are risking a certain amount of privacy. It is too simplistic to say "nobody should use Monster".
