UK call centers
Eclipse seems to be growing well, with winning more awards this year. I was checking their websites for their packages. I have never tried their services, but will consider them next year.

One of their selling point was that they have UK based call centers, which sounds good.

Are they the only UK Internet Service provider who has a UK call center?

Outsourced call centers are becoming more common and I have to say that my experience of them have never been great.

There are quite a few with UK support desks. I know the tiscalli reseller does all its own support in house just around the corner from my desk actually, and the ISP I use at home also has UK support centres.

Virgin Media does have a UK support desk but I believe it's only opened for certain hours during the day and then all calls are out-sourced to India.

Cheers.

I think that's fairly common, while your average service desk agent is relatively cheap at around £12k-£20k a year once you start adding shift allowances and overtime to that figure they become fairly expensive for the volume of calls.

If you have UK sourced people when you get the most calls so you get most value out of them, but when the calls aren't as frequent use cheaper outsourced support centres.

It's a shame I know trying to communicate your problem with the indian demon representives can be a nightmare , i think more companies are learning that some times a penny saved can be a pound lost!

Anyone using the Virgin deal which gives both broadband, mobile, tv and phone?

What is the broadband like? Majorly capped or quite generous. It's a good price at £40 of so. Does it come with a new mobile phone or is it just a sim card you get?

Thanks.

I think that most start with call centers in the country of origin and then once they become large enough they outsource to save money.

yep, that sounds about right. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where they outsource to?

Also, i think BT is an exception. Every time i call them i get someone who sounds brittish, and everything is sorted, first call to them, with no transfers

The call centers in UK are not increasing their branches in the country as they are moving towards the south Asian countries for economical changes.
