BT Business Broadband Experience
I recently signed up to BT Business broadband.

Only glitch I had was that they did take about 2 weeks to connect and I was told that there will be a free phone line with it. Apparantly that order, for some reason did not go through so I ended up with just broadband and not the telephone number with it as promised. Can't be bothered chasing it up again with them.

However, the impressive bit is that they actually pick up the phone (after a queue ofcourse) when you call. Connectivity is not a problem and I love the wireless router which came free with the package.

If you need a dedicated IP, they want to charge extra though. Not that many people need them, but if you do, perhaps there is a better business broadband package which includes a dedicated IP in the price.

What do you get on the business package that you don't get on the home package? Usually the fixed IP is the main difference in my experience, so if you aren't getting a fixed IP, why did you sign up for the bussiness package if you don't mind my asking?

Or, are you using the business package from an office address, so you had no choice but to get it because they wouldn't let you just use a home one?

Yeah they are a bit rubbish about not having fixed IP unless you go for the more expensive package, Demon give us a ton of fixed ip's with our head office. we also had a lot of problems with bt over estimating how fast our line was capabable of giving us a lot of down time .

Are you all actually using the connection for business?

I have a business account with another ISP and I had to ask them to take my Static IP off. It's for a home connection and didn't want the same IP all the time for security reasons.

Unless I was using it to host stuff, I'd always prefer a dynamic address.

Even if you are hosting stuff, a dynamic address is pretty good because it is much harder to trace, as long as you have some sort of tracking thingy

If you have plan to launch website for your company, it is important that you should have a static IP instead of dynamic IP.

Static IP is offered free with business broadband packages and a few ISPs offer more than a free static IP.

Another use of having a static IP is that any system in a large network can be easily identified as it will have an unique number.
