Fastest Broadband?
When I was checking Be broadband offers, I visited their site and they advertise that they are the fastest broadband provider in the UK!

24Mb speeds which they advertised sounds interesting, but I guess not everyone can get that much speed.

Would appreciate if someone feeds back on how fast they really are.

I think there is a lot of discrepancy between the advertised speed and the actual speed that a broadband customer receives. This creates a certain amount of unhappiness and dissatisfaction among many broadband customers in UK.

If anyone goes for a superfast broadband package, he should be aware of the factors that affect the broadband speed. They include the quality of wire used to access internet, the distance between the telephone exchange and his location and finally the amount of internet traffic on the specific line.

Do the ISPs mention these factors when they advertise their packages? Yes, but only in small print. Before one gets being misled, he'd better read the small print carefully.

Turning to the question of 24 mb speed that Be there promises, how many of their customers will get speed near to it? Less than 10 percent? I think so.

Do Be have any caps? If you live close enough to the exchange to get those speeds that would be pretty nice.

I'm getting decent speeds from Virgin Media - not the full 20, but my modem doesn't support it. I'm hoping when I get my replacement modem I'll get the full speed.

Yes, the point here made is the right one. If you are located close to the exchange, you might get the promised speed, though it keeps reducing as you keep going away.......so you have to keep note of this thing.
Take care.

More accurately: Less than 10% will be able to theoretically achieve those speeds. Less than 5% will probably get them in day-to-day usage.
