What ADSL 2+ speeds can I expect?
Hi everyone!

This is a question out of my curiosity. If my home is within 1 km from ADSL 2+ enabled exchange, what maximum speeds can I expect? Now, I am nearly 3.5 kms from the exchange and get download speeds around 1Mbps.

How does line condition affect the speeds? I don't think the phone lines are in a state of repair.

You can get about 18 - 21 Mbps if you are in that range. However, factors like the actual cable length (it could exceed 2 kms), the way internal wiring done in your home and the line condition can affect the speeds.

Yes, line condition like thickness of the copper wire or bridge taps can also impact the speed. If the wires are in good condition, speeds between 15 - 20 Mbps can be realistic.
