Upload speed and download speed
My question is simple. When I download a huge file, can it also use upload speed in case download speed is saturated? Or can it be vice versa?
For information, I am an ADSL user and with BT.
Thanks,
braveheart

No sorry its either one or the other, these are both totally different things and can not use each other when your downloading large files.

When you drain your maximum upload speed, it is possible that your download speed may slow down.

I believe that this can slow down you upload speed a little however, this is no majour concern.
If you have a program named utorrent you can do the following to prevent this:
Press CTRL + P
Choose Connection tab
Set Maximum upload to 10kb/s
Tick Alternate upload rate when not downloading
