Does it really matter what speed you have?
There are so many posts on here saying "Is my broadband fast enough", "how can I get it faster" etc.

But at the end of the day does it really matter? For the average user 1MBit is more than fast enough for what most people do online, will that fraction of a second saved downloading a web page really be noticable? No.

Ok there are certain things where extra speed is useful, such as VOD and VOIP but VOD is still start it downloading and wait and VOIP will on the whole work on slower lines anyway.

Apart from the odd torrent download I dont really notice the difference between 1MBit and 6MBit.

If I get 2 mb speed constantly, why would I complain about this issue?

If someone keeps on bellyaching about speed, maybe, he is below 1 Mb.

Broadband speed is a issue if you wantto download data and not if you just want to surf and use VOIP.

Well it matters to people who have really slow speeds like 0.5mbs and the web pages take ages to load. Also some people may download alot and this make consume alot of time. Its time we combatted slow speeds and take action and get the package we are paying for.

For simple internet activities like email, surfing or online shopping, speeds dont matter much, I admit. Howver, for online gamers and reliable VoIP service, speeds are important. If you are a IPTV viewer, everything depends on speeds.
