What is the fastest speed I can get in London
Since there are varying speeds for broadband depending on where you are at such as country and city, can anyone tell me the fastest speed to expect within London.

Depends where you are in London but most of London (at least more central areas) as far as I know can get 24MBit broadband.

How fast you will actually get however will depend on

I would say you can almost certainly get 8mb. Techincally, you could probably get 24mb, but i'd question whether that realistically acheived.

Nice, how far is everyone?

According to this I am 280 meters which is quite close I imagine.

Wondering how far you need to be away until you start to notice drops.

Speed is not everthing as ping also matters. And more is the ping more is the lag in the data sent and recived thus reducing your speed.

Latency matters only when you are playing online games or doing chatting and conferences and for normal surfing and downloading its not that big concern.

It all depends upon which part of the city you live and which are the companies providing the broadband services in that area. A true 24mbs speed can be attained.

This still varies on a variety of factors. What internet server providor are you on?Are you a long distance from the exchange?I would expect you can gain around 12mb with a good internet service providor.
