Different Speeds
Why is it that some countries providers offer vast speeds compared to the UK, my Dutch mate has 24MB connection. How come?

You can have 24MB connection in the UK as well, you just need to be served by an exchange that supports it. Be are one provider that provides that kind of speed.

However the UK local loop is pretty bad and most lines wont support those kind of speeds anyway, but you should still get faster than most.

Yeah this company is the one I was thinking about earlier, it seems a great deal, I will probably be going with them when my contract is up.

To be honest, I have 8mb download and really I dont need more. Sure if I was running Bit Torrent or something a lot, downloading multiple well seeded files at once maybe. It not that often I max it out and 9/10 it the server from where I'm getting the data from which is too slow, not me.

The main thing I'm interested in is Upload speed, sending files to Rapidshare or uploading to my server can take forever and kills your ability to do anything else when it's going on.

That Be company offers 2mb Upload which is a big step forward from my current half meg, plus it allows you to host a server.

I have a 2 mb connection but if my ISP gives me just the promised speed i'll be satisfied but I am getting only 60kBps that means just 480 kbps and I am paying for 2048kbps.

Speed of broadband depends from place to place, and it also differs from country to country. It mainly depends on the service of the company you are getting.

This differs due to many different reasons, location, how far away from a exchange are you, what services are for your area. There are loads of varieties of internet service providors. The maximum speed i have seen for the UK is a 24 mb broadband.
