Currently, countries like Japan, Sweden and South Korea have developed FTTP networks (optic fibre network) and are able to offer speeds upto 100 Mbps.

In UK, ISPs offer broadband using ADSL, ADSL +2 and cable technologies which can offer upto 24 Mbps downstream speed.

Optic fibre network, which is very expensive technology, is to be launched in South Yorkshire on trial basis.
