If I switch to a provider I don't have any past experience with,I'd lean towards a short-term contract. It will cost me a bit more ,but atleast I can dump them if they provide substandard service. What I'd save on the long-term contract will easily be lost on a poor connectivity or a slower speed than they promise.I take all my questions to subscribers of the connection I want to research.

A decent summary and I am sure that many operators do use that logic. However there are good commercial reasons why you would want to offer the same service at a lower price for long term customers.

I don't like contracts because once I got in to a contract of 12 months from BT and they really gave me hopeless service and now I just believe in postpaids per month.
