Can I use the same email account?
What will happen to to my email address with my provider, when I switch to another provider? Will the current ISP allow to use it after I have left them?

What is the policy of the ISPs in this regard? Anyone knows?

Thanks.

I don't think you can use the same email account after you have left your ISP.

Sometimes it makes hard to decide whether to leave a provider for this reason.

My best advice would be to take back up of all your mails and to inform your friends and other people a couple of months before you change provider. Start using alternate mail address during this period.

When your ISP offers free email accounts, you cannot use them once you have left them.

However, if you subscribe to their email bundle, like the one that is available with Be packages, I think, you can use them even after you switch to another provider.

ISPs provide email accounts or domain names only when you are their customers. This obvious policy is not hard to understand.

Providing email accounts for customers can be a nuisance for a provider as we know from the experiece of Pipex and Plusnet in the past.

Your old email address will expire you had on your old Internet Service Providor as this is a benefit when you are with them. You will get a new one with your new ISP if your switching.
