The upstream and downstream values do correspond to 8 meg and I believe that just like the survey by which.co.uk (quoted elsewhere in this forum) the real speed is not the same as what the suppliers claim.

Technically you should be able to recieve what your telephone cable can handle, I pay for 8Mb here but Im only getting 2.5Mb but my line supports 4.5Mb so Im waiting for engineers to come and check my telephone cable from the exchange to my house, Their is a possibility that Im being mugged off by my Internet Service Provider as this seems to be a common case.

I would check your speed on several test sites as I have very different results from a coupkle I have tried, IE pcpitstop is telling me I have 900Kbits and speedtest is telling me I have 2500Kbits so don`t rely on accurate measurements from all sites , your download speed will always be faster and thats the one to keep an eye on.

I would recommend you run a speed test using this link:

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

This will give you accurate results on your Internet Service Providors speeds they are giving you.If they are really bad take a print screen of this and maybe email it them and they make take further action on this to try and improve it.
