No autoupdates.
My windows and anti-virus and other applications keep checking for updates and waste my bandwidth. Is there any way to stop them?

Unless you are that short on bandwidth let it do what it wants it doesnt take much and one day could perhaps save your computer from being comprimised by a unpatched Windows Flaw or Virus.

In case of Windows, you can disable Automatic updates if you prefer. Go to control panel, click the icon 'Security centre' and change the automatic updates to 'OFF'.

You can also try similar things in other applications which will usually have some menu like 'options'.

Try it!

I have to agree with Jen, it does take very little and should not cause any type of shortage unless your have very little to begin with. This really could be the difference between keeping your system safe and losing it without knowledge.

Its always good to get your anti-virus and windows updated as there are always new virus and updates which are required.

Just go through the help files if I cannot find a option on my own.

Sorry that this is the case this happens on my computer all programs automatically update on start up.If this is a real majour problem then go into options and there is usually a tick box that allowes automatic updates if unticked it doesn't.However, its good to leave this automatic and it saves you updating it manually.
