| | | Trust me you really dont want to. I work for a small one and the margins and hassle just arent worth it.
If you really wanted to though, you would I imagine be reselling someone else's product, as you really dont have enough cash not to, then you have to deal with billing, support, marketing.
Leave it to those experienced, who actually tend to do a bad job anyway :-)

| | Yeah, the time for small ISPs is probably long gone.
Are you still considering reselling? If you do, I'd love to hear how you get on. I think there could be a market for a 'local' resold ISP, with a private little forum, personal-ish support, etc. The problem is the only ISPs I've seen that do reseller packages leave you with tiny margins if you try to compete on price with the bigger isps

| It's funny isn't...even when they start out with a solid business plan, in a growth industry, with a wealth of technical experience...they still can't please the average joe. | |

| | | I would have to agree with Jen, unless your really know what you are doing, have some time or are willing to pay people to run it for you, then I would not recommend it either. it is very hard to compete with the bigger companies and you may end up spending more money than you ever wanted to. | |

| | If you really are still interested than you may want to talk to Entanet they are a ISP who have resellers, I'm with one of their resellers, but Entanet handle all the billing for you, "all" my ISP does its technical support.
Saying that I'm happy with them.

| | | I myself was planning to start a WiSP, but then later it never worked out properly, the investors that had previusly agreed to, just backed off, since wireless ISP is a bit new business even though wifi has been around here in UK and US for around 3 years plus.
I'd say its too frisky a business to be into.Theres lots of competition already.

| | Thanks for that link JenniP - have you found that you can actually charge a decent price and get a decent income from reselling for Entanet, or is it just one of many services you are offering to your customers?
As I said in another post, the margins on reselling services I have found were very slim | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
