Change from Modem to Wireless Router

My ISP is Tiscali, I have Broadband set up on my Desktop and Laptop using a Sagem Modem via USB. I can only have Broadband on one computer at a time, so I have to unplug the Modem from one computer to the other.

My question is: I am considering changing my ISP and would like to go Wireless for my Broadband connection using a Router.

As my Desktop and Laptop are six years old would this be possible.
