"A 39 year-old man in West London was arrested for dishonestly obtaining free internet access" from an unsecured wireless router nearby.

There have been plenty of people riding on other people's wireless broadband. In the City of London there used to be a map of these hotspots.

Ah yes war chalking, used to be quite interesting :-)

We had a chat about this at work on Friday and the basic concensus was if you are too stupid not to secure your WIFI then anyone should be able to use it if they want.

War chalking, I tried to remember the name. Apparantly it's a crime under the 2003 Communications Act, I never realised that. New Labour seem to be making new crimes every working day.

I agree. In fact I think it is a bit of a poor show of the broadband providers not to include passwording as standard. After all email providers, even hotmail, would not dream of giving an open access email account.

Due to the new cyber law policy of the government, the people engaged in such type of theft activities are now turning their hands back from this type of work

What "cyber law policy" are you talking about here? I think that any increased police attention is actually evidence of an increase in various types of cyber crime.

God thats a bit cheeky going onto other peoples routers.I mean when i refresh my connection there are alot of unsecured routers i could get onto but i don't.I mean if you go onto your router confirguration and security you can see the IPs connected to your router and if you want to refuse a connection you can.
