90% of UK internet users connect by broadband
There is alway a shift going on and in the e-migration in the UK there was big shift form dial up to broadband which has taken 90% of all users .
The cost of a broadband is much higher then that of a dial up but people still went for it .

I don't know which dial up you are using, but dial up usually charges by the minute. Even at 0.5p a minute that barely makes for an hour on line a day compared to a £10 per month deal. Then look at the amount of time wasted on dial up connections.

I was taking about the setting up of your broadband connection and you do have a point about the time that you are losing . I am only making a point that broadband it the only way that people get online in the UK .

I do not think that this is the case. Until about 18 months ago I was using dial up and I know that quite a few other people still are. 90% sounds suspiciously high to me.

There is quite a bit of evidence of dial up still being used:
  • There is still a large legacy of people using dial up.
  • When I was looking for dial up as a backup I found plenty of service offerings.
  • On another thread a poster said that his/her company was still making a fortune from dialup

Dial up connections is now a thing of the past. People prefer broadband as it provides good speed and longer connectivity as compared to dial up

Yes but dialup is always available as long as you can get a phoneline (broadband still has a few places where it is not available) and it can be cheap if you only use the internet for emails. Don't write it off just yet.

Yeah i agree london dialup is fading out of the market. With broadband you get so many extra benefits and its so worth it for that extra amount of money. So yes this seems right as people who use there computer just for emails etc. may have dialup and i can see this being about 10%.
