What's the new bandwidth killer?
If you are as old as I am you will remember the puzzled ideas of just what you could do with a 10 MB internal hard disk, or 64 KB of memory. Software soon caught up with the capacity.

So what do people think is going to be the next bandwidth killer?

You already have them, VOD (Video on Demand) and VOIP (Voice Over IP). To do them properly you need to have good amounts of reliable bandwidth.

The main difference from say BitTorrent and VOD is that people expect to wait when downloading from a BitTorrent site, but they expect VOD to be immediate, stutter free to do that for the growing number of VOD users will kill bandwidth.

That is a good point. I suppose that it will not be so much internet video as the bandwidth killer (we have that at the moment) but good quality, instant and movie length video.

Firstly the internet comes at the speed of 56kbs and then came the 128, and now with the broadband service speed of 512kbs even seem less to the users.

The BBC iPlayer, which offers online video on-demand, has come under fire today from internet service providers for being a massive bandwidth hog.

Haha i know this sounds stupid but i think this could be the next ultimate bandwitch killer. This is meant to be launched on christmas day.
