Not only do I still have the same supplier but I originally took the service because I had no tie ins. How pathetic is that? That shows the power of inertia.

Sometimes people stay because the service they get it good. Before I moved house that's exactly why I stayed with Pipex, no blocked ports, pretty reliable etc.

Yes it wasn't the cheapest by a long shot but I don't want cheap, I want good value which at the time the Pipex package I had was.

When I moved it ceased to be that, as I would have to sign up for a year, they had put extra restrictions and clauses in and I had heard about the upcoming sale of the residential business to Tiscali so I moved.

Its hard to understand why would people not want to pay less or should we say that it is from person to person . There are so many companys coming up they should look at this forum before they start up .

But that's the thing, its not all about price, I could get free broadband but it would'nt do what I wanted, and be fast, reliable and without port blocking or traffic shapping.

I could even pay less than I am for those, however do you
  • Leap to another provider and get a "cheaper" price and just hope they are reliable
  • Pay more and have a service you know

Ok its slightly different if you have a bad service, but most of the people I know have the problems they do because they went for the cheapest provider.

You really do end up getting what you pay for in most instances.

With me it is not that the service is great, but that it is good enough.

I agree about not wanting the cheapest service, but I doubt that any one else's superior service will tempt me. Inertia again.

For this very reason 74% of the users have not changed there provides . The companys that are coming in have to look into this aspect of broadband or they will not last .

Inertia is very hard to overcome. But it is the clients who are most prone to inertia who are the most valuable.

That is why we are seeing those big computer giveaways - you need something big to make the clients who won't otherwise switch to switch.
